The Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens and Transgender Persons, Telangana is a nodal department to implement the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 & Corresponding State Rules, 2011 and policies & schemes of State & Central Governments. As per census 2011, the total population of Telangana State is 3,52,86,757 out of which 32,69,579 are Senior Citizens which constitutes 9.27% of total population and projected population as per MoSP is 11%.
